Riding along the beach is very uplifting. I shared all the creative mailboxes with you the other day. How can you help but smile when you ride by a Manatee (‘Russet Potato of the Sea’) holding out a mailbox. I realized that another part of the joy and happiness comes from the whimsical color schemes of the beach front homes. Here are some that I took along about a 2 miles stretch near Neptune Beach.
What do you think?
Of course, there is always the yard full of flamingos too!
When we ran out of road, we took a ferry across a waterway and headed to Amelia Island.
My college friend, Cricket lives there with Kenna. They both lived in Colorado for many years, but Kenna always wanted to experience beach life. She loves it too. I got to walk the beach with them and hunt for shark teeth (they found several, I found NONE) and other interesting stuff washed up on the beach. When we got back to the house, Kenna showed me some much larger shark teeth that I think she said were from an extinct species (or at least very rare). It was a wonderful visit — too short — and I’m so glad it worked out since it was a spur of the moment meet-up.
